Alistair Begg Daily Devotional June 01, 2026
If your heart feels a little weary today, you are not alone. Many believers across our nation wake up carrying concerns about their families, their health, their jobs, and the future. Yet right here, in this very moment, the Lord is inviting you to rest your anxious thoughts in His faithful hands. As Alistair Begg often reminds us, the Christian life is not about the strength of our grip on God, but the strength of His grip on us. Today’s devotional is an opportunity to breathe, to remember who holds your life, and to lean again into the unshakable hope we have in Jesus Christ.
Anchored by a Promise
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) This single sentence steadies the soul. Everything around us shifts—economies, health, relationships, even our own emotions. But Christ does not change. The same Savior who spoke peace into storms and hope into broken hearts still reigns, still loves you, and still intercedes for you. When we feel uncertain or fearful about what lies ahead, we can stand on this verse and say, “My world may change, but my Lord never will.” His character, His mercy, and His promises remain constant, no matter what this day brings.
Living Today with a Steady Heart
Because Jesus is unchanging, you do not have to be ruled by today’s pressures. You can walk into your Monday schedule, appointments, meetings, and unexpected interruptions with a different posture—a heart at rest in God’s sovereignty. When worries crowd your mind, quietly whisper, “Lord, You are the same today as You were on the cross and at the empty tomb.” Then make one small, faith-filled choice: open your Bible, offer a quick prayer in the car, show kindness to someone difficult, or choose gratitude instead of complaint. Spiritual growth is often found in simple, hidden decisions that align your heart with God’s truth. Let this day become a living testimony that Christ’s stability is stronger than your instability.
Drawing Near in Faith
Heavenly Father, thank You that faith is not about my perfection but Your faithfulness. Strengthen my trust in You today. Where doubt has crept in, replace it with confidence in Your Word. Deepen my roots in Christ so that when winds of disappointment or confusion blow, I will not be easily shaken. Teach me to listen for Your voice through Scripture and the gentle nudge of Your Spirit. Help me grow in obedience—not out of fear, but out of love and gratitude for all You have done through Jesus. May my faith today be active, humble, and anchored in Your unchanging character.
Covering Our Homes in God’s Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones before You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every fear we try to hide. Bring Your peace into our conversations and our conflicts. Heal strained relationships and soften hardened hearts. Protect our homes from bitterness, division, and discouragement. Let forgiveness flow freely among us as we remember how greatly we have been forgiven in Christ. Fill our homes with laughter, gentleness, and mutual respect. For those in my family who do not yet know You, open their eyes to the beauty of the gospel. Let our home be a small reflection of Your kingdom—full of grace, truth, and love.
Health, Healing, and Renewed Strength
Gracious God, You know every ache in our bodies and every burden in our minds. For those battling illness, chronic pain, or frightening diagnoses, stretch out Your healing hand. Give wisdom to doctors and caregivers and surround the sick with genuine support. For those silently struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, or exhaustion, whisper Your comfort and steady their thoughts. Renew our strength today—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Help us care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, while resting in the reality that our ultimate hope is not in our health, but in the risen Christ, who will one day make all things new.
Work, Finances, and Daily Provision
Father, You are the giver of every good and perfect gift. I place my job, my responsibilities, and my financial needs in Your hands. Where work feels overwhelming, grant clarity, focus, and endurance. Where there is unemployment, underemployment, or fear of layoffs, open doors that no one can shut. Provide opportunities that align with Your will and give me
