One Life to Live – For Now – Part 5 (Romans 12:1-8)
Let’s turn to Romans 12. I’ll read the entire chapter as we stand in honor of God’s Word. Today, we will focus on key principles that, if you listen and open your heart, can truly transform your life—this is God’s promise to us.
The passage begins:
“I urge you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. This is your true and reasonable act of worship.”
In other words, we are called to step forward in faith and surrender ourselves fully to God’s service. Worship isn’t just about singing—it’s about showing up, dedicating ourselves, and living a life that honors Him.
The Apostle Paul continues:
“Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to discern what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
If you truly want to experience transformation in today’s world, let God renew your mind. When you do, you’ll discover your identity in Christ and gain clarity about His purpose for your life.
Paul warns against pride:
“By the grace given to me, I say to each of you: do not think of yourself more highly than you should. Instead, think with sober judgment, according to the measure of faith God has assigned to you.”
This is a reminder to remain humble. As believers, we must not be arrogant or self-important but recognize that our gifts and abilities come from God.
Paul then introduces a crucial teaching:
“Just as our bodies have many parts, and each part has a unique function, so it is with the body of Christ. We are one body in Christ, and individually, we belong to one another.”
This means every believer has a role in God’s kingdom. We have different spiritual gifts, and they are meant to be used for His glory:
- If your gift is prophecy, use it in proportion to your faith.
- If your gift is service, serve faithfully.
- If you are called to teach, teach diligently.
- If you encourage others, do so wholeheartedly.
- If you give, give generously.
- If you lead, lead with passion and integrity.
- If you show mercy, do it with joy.
Lord, help us to live according to Your Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
A Call to Action: Use Your Spiritual Gifts
This message is more than just encouragement—it is a commissioning. Whenever we talk about spiritual gifts, we must recognize that God has called each believer to a specific purpose.
After His resurrection, Jesus declared that the Holy Spirit would come. On the day of Pentecost, the church was born, and with it came the outpouring of spiritual gifts. Every believer has at least one spiritual gift meant to be active in their life.
Church family, this is a crucial truth: You are not called to be a spectator in your faith. If you have ever felt distant from God or struggled with spiritual stagnation, ask yourself—have you sought out and used the gift He has given you?
God does not give power to those who have no intention of using it. But if you step forward in faith today and say, “Lord, I am willing—show me my spiritual gift,” He will guide you.
The Challenge: Surrendering to God’s Will
Over the coming weeks, we will explore these gifts in greater depth. But today, I challenge you to make this a priority. If you commit to listening and applying these teachings, you may experience a personal revival like never before.
We have already discussed giving God your attention, your body, and your will. But today, we go even deeper—giving God your love.
To give God your will means surrendering your own desires and letting Him take control. It means stepping out of the driver’s seat and allowing Him to lead.
And finally, we arrive at the ultimate call: Give God your all.
Write it down. Take it to heart. And walk in faith.
