Donald Trump has been the dominant figure in American politics for the last several years. Whether you hate him or love him, you can’t ignore him. We are now standing on the eve of a critical election that will determine America’s future. But do we have a biblical clue? Does God speak through His Word? Is there a template in the Bible that gives us revelation about this moment?

Ancient Israel knew God but eventually fell into apostasy, turning away from His laws, driving Him out of public spaces, worshiping other gods and idols, embracing sexual immorality, sacrificing its children, and persecuting those who remained faithful to God’s ways. Today, America—a nation that once knew God—has followed a similar path, rejecting His ways, removing Him from public spaces, and embracing other gods and idols without naming them. Sexual immorality has become widespread, and children are sacrificed through abortion. Now, America is on the brink of persecuting those who uphold God’s ways.

What’s astounding is how the leaders and events of Israel’s fall from God mirror those in our nation today, with parallels that are both striking and stunning. These parallels offer us a revelation: our leaders are following ancient prototypes. I first wrote about this in the book “The Paradigm,” but even after its publication, the mystery continued to unfold and come true.

In the biblical template of 1 Kings, a king rises to power in the northern kingdom and inaugurates a culture war. His name was Ahab. He was a divided man, compromised, knowing God yet waging war against His ways. Ahab championed the worship of Baal, which included child sacrifice, sexual immorality, and the overturning of biblical absolutes and traditional values.

Similarly, in America, a culture war began when a man rose to power: Bill Clinton. He was at the center of this culture war, paralleling the biblical Ahab. Ahab was a divided man who knew God but fell away, warring against His ways. Likewise, Bill Clinton was a divided man who had known God but turned away, opposing His ways. Ahab championed the worship of Baal, and with it, child sacrifice and immorality. Bill Clinton became the first president to advocate for abortion.

How long was Bill Clinton on the national stage? His rise to power began when he became governor of Arkansas in early 1979, and it ended with the conclusion of his presidency in early 2001—a total of 22 years. In 1 Kings 16:29, it is written, “Ahab, the son of Omri, reigned over Israel in Samaria for 22 years.” The years of Bill Clinton followed the years of King Ahab, as determined by his ancient prototype.

But Ahab didn’t reign alone; he ruled alongside his wife, a woman who sought power for herself. His wife was Jezebel, a woman raised with cosmopolitan values, the daughter of a priest of the goddess Ashtoreth.
